WWE Royal Rumble 2021

What a way to start the evening with Drew McIntyre vs Goldberg.

I honestly was glad to see this match go on first so we can get the finish of this one over and done. There was a few times in the match when I thought Goldberg was going to kill Drew's momentum and win the match but Drew turned it around and won this match after a second Claymore to the head of Goldberg for the win, thankfully. This match was ok, nothing spectacular from these two men regarding the circumstances. Just a match of finishing moves until one actually won the match.

Sasha Banks vs Carmella. The finish of this one was the right call with Sasha slapping on the Banks Statement for the tap out win. This match was solid from start to finish and I don't see anything wrong or how they conducted themselves during this match. Both women did a hell of job.

The Women's Rumble match ended just like I wanted it and as I'm sure how everybody else wanted it to end too with Bianca Belair winning her first Rumble match. Breaking her last year record, with even more impressive spots including the returning Naomi, who also put on a decent performance. A few surpises in this one, including Victoria and Jillian, which it was good to see them. The EST and Rhea Ripley ended this match with a pretty simple and classic clothesline over the top rope to Rhea, allowing for Bianca to win. I enjoyed this match.

Roman F'kn Reigns and Kevin Owens. This match was by far the best match of the night. Kevin is crazy. Roman is crafty. One spot in this one that I enjoyed was the golf cart spot, with Roman coming out of nowhere hitting Owens with it, which was a little humorous and impactful at the same time. Kevin almost got the victory while handcuffing Kevin to one of the WWE platforms. Fortunately, the referee was near Roman making the count, so when the Ref got to a 9 count, Roman pulled him into one of the stage objects, putting him out of comission. Paul Heyman uncuffed Roman, and Roman got Kevin to pass out with the new submission he's been using, for the 10 count. I'm glad Roman won, as he should, but an incredible match all around.

Edge and Randy Orton entered the Royal Rumble match 1 and 2. Carlito made his return which was cool, no pun intended. Looks like he's back officially. During the match Edge took out Orton from the beginning, which many thought he was done, but the Viper made his return at the end of the match, hitting the RKO to Edge outta nowhere. I got excited for Randy to win his 3rd Rumble match ever, which would have tied Stone Cold with 3 victories, but somehow Edge "recovered" quickly and avoided being eliminated by Randy, and instead threw him over the top rope, giving Edge his second Rumble victory.

Putting my opinions to the side about this one, Edge overcoming  a near-career ending injury to come back, enter number 1 and win the Rumble match, was nothing short of impressive, which proves that anything can be accomplished if you don't give up and work hard for your passions and dreams.

Not the best Rumble PPV, but this one wasn't all bad. I will watch the replay on the WWE Network. Pretty good Event all around!
